In this week's blog post we will focus on readings from "Making Documentary Films and Videos by Barry Hampe". This textbook is a great and simple way to fully understand the joy and process of documentary film making. Focusing on the Visual Evidence chapter we come to understand that capturing moments of importance and intimacy is the superior method of catching the real moments between human interactions. Barry Hampe, goes on to say "Communicating with and an audience through an existential, visual medium is far different from communicating in a face to face, or voice to voice situations" (Making Documentary Films and video). Allowing the room for real moments is what documentary film making is all about, "The more concretely you can describe your documentary idea in terms of visual images, the better your chance of communicating it through film or video" (Making Documentary Films and Video).
